WELCOME BACK! We look forward to working with all of our football players and cheerleaders in 2012, the Forty-fourth season of Airlanes Football. Airlanes Jr. Football is a Not for Profit Organization that was established in 1968. Airlanes teaches over 500 boys and girls from the area each year, the fundamentals of football, cheerleading, and sportsmanship. Airlanes has received the Cheektowaga Service to Youth Award as an organization, and also has individuals that have received this award for their committment to youth. Airlanes is proud to have dedicated individuals that have contributed to our continuing success. Airlanes accomplishments are not seen in trophies and awards, but are seen in the character of those individuals who go on to serve the community with leadership, dedication, and knowledge, from the fundamentals they learned through football and cheerleading. Volunteers Airlanes is run completely by volunteers. We are always in need of volunteers to help with committees, or to help coach. If you are willing to volunteer some of your time to help keep this organization running strong, please contact Mr. Frank Szefler at 725-3133. Board Meetings Board Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month, at the Losson Park recreational building, at 7 pm during the off-season. Meetings are open to everyone. 2012 Empire West Schedule: The 2012 schedule has been posted for the Pee-Wee thru JV levels on the football page. This year, Airlanes will open on the road at Carnegie-Scranton, will make two trips to Orchard Park, and close the season at East Aurora. Just as last year, the entire Empire West League will take it's BYE for the Labor Day weekend. The varsity schedule will not be completed for another month to six weeks, as the league is not sure who will and will not have a team yet. Open Registration: Open Registration will take place the weekend of May 19th and 20th from 12-3 at the clubhouse in Losson Park. There will be a slight increase in registration fees this year:
Monday, June 11th from 7-9 pm. Chicken Bar-B-Q Benefit! Airlanes is sponsoring a Chicken BBQ on Friday, June 15 from 5-8, at Losson Park. There are only a limited amount of tickets, and they are $10.00 apiece, which includes a 1/2 chicken 2 sides, and a roll. All proceeds will be donated to the Stigelmeyer Park Steering Committee to help fund a comfort station (bathroom) in the back of the park at the football field. Congratulations to Miss Jennifer Statler, who has been selected by the Executive Board to be Head Coach of the Lady Bulldogs! Jen has been an assistant coach at several levels, so we know she will do a wonderful job leading our pee-wees on the sidelines. Good luck Jen! Congratulations to the Vitez family, who will be leading the Buccaneer Cheerleaders this fall. Mark, Christine, Brittany and Mariah have coached the Pee-Wee Bulldogs for three years, and are now ready for a new challenge: The Freshman. Best of luck to this dedicated cheer family! Congratulations to Deb Nazzarett and Joelle Bartula, who will move up this year, and Coach the Lady Cardinals on Sundays. Deb and Joelle have done a great job instructing the Freshman over the years, and we know they will continue that excellence at the JV level. Best of luck this fall ladies! Finally, Congratulations to Mr Steve Theal who will be taking over the successful Buccaneer team this fall. best of luck this fall to you and your staff, Steve!
